Healthcare workers urged to get booster shots from Monday
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Healthcare workers who participated in the Sisonke vaccination study earlier this year are being encouraged to get their Covid-19 booster shots from Monday.

The SA Medical Research Council says the additional dose
would help strengthen the immunity of the country's frontline personnel.
Between February and May, over 400 000 healthcare workers received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson jab under the Sisonke study trial to evaluate the efficacy of the vaccine during the third coronavirus wave.

The council, Health Department and other organisations are leading the second trial across the country, to offer more protection for healthcare workers ahead of a possible surge in new infections.
