By-elections: KZN political parties await results

Political parties in KZN are waiting to hear how they fared in the latest round of by-elections.

Voters in five municipalities cast their ballots on Wednesday.
Polling stations opened for 14 hours from 7am in eThekwini's Ward 6 in Hammarsdale, KwaDukuza's Ward 5, KwaMaphumulo's wards 5 and 7, Ubuhlebezwe's Ward 4 and Umzimkhulu's ward 20.
Dr Nonhlanhla Hlongwane, who's with the IEC in KZN, says while the voting process went smoothly - they'll be meeting party representatives to discuss one incident.

It happened during the registration at the Mount Royal voting station in Phoenix.
A man was found with a batch of ID documents.
"That was investigated. We urged political parties that they cannot be intolerant to the level that they have at the voting polls," Hlongwane said.
The station will vote in the next round of by-elections on the 19th of May.
