On-duty security guard killed during Tongaat robbery

A security guard has been killed during a robbery at a business in Tongaat, north of Durban.

Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says at this stage they believe that the two on-duty security guards were attacked by three armed men.

"One of the suspects fired shots at a 40-year-old security guard. He sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body and was declared dead at the scene.
"The suspects robbed the victims of their firearms before fleeing the scene. The matter is still under investigation."
