17-year-old Cameron White pulled Shakila Singh through the passenger window moments before the car was completely submerged in water during a flash flood.

It's one of the stories of heroism to emerge following days of heavy rainfall and flooding in the city, as well as snowfall in areas like Kokstad and the Berg.

Singh told Newswatch she was on her way to pick up her daughter when she found herself in a difficult situation with her car stuck under the M4 in La Lucia.

She says she got into a panic when she couldn't control the car, which began floating in circles.

She could not open the doors and the vehicle was filling with water.

White - who Singh has described as her Guardian Angel - is also a lifesaver.

He said it was worth the risk.
