Was that Will Smith? Comedian Dave Chappelle attacked on stage

Dave Chappelle had a scary incident during a recent show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The American comedian was performing at the 'Netflix is a Joke' festival on Tuesday when a man charged at him. 

Footage shows the man tackling Dave before security stepped in. Chris Rock, who made a cameo appearance at the show, joked: "Was that Will Smith?"

Chris was referencing the moment Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars. 

Video footage also shows the alleged attacker being carried away to an ambulance after the incident at the Hollywood Bowl. He appeared to be injured. 

The Hollywood Bowl says it is investigating the incident. The man was allegedly armed at the time of the attack.

According to Deadline, actor and comedian Jamie Foxx rushed on stage to help Dave during the incident. 

“Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat,” Dave said on stage. 

Jamie said he thought it was part of the show. 

"For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You’re a genius. You’re a legend, and we’re not going to let nothing happen to you," he told Dave.
