Trick your body into not cravings carbs!

Trick your body into not cravings carbs!

Carb heavy foods like pizza, potato chips, and cakes have a seriously bad effect on your waistline, and have been blacklisted by just about every dietician.

Sadly, avoiding unhealthy carbs is not easy, and just like Oprah Winfrey, we start speaking in tongues If we avoid bread and other carbs altogether.

The great news is that the Daily Mail got a nutritionist to list all the foods we should be eating to stop those unhealthy cravings, while there are also tips on what you need to do more of.

Sleep more

Yes, spending an extra hour in bed will help you eat less, nutritionist and weight loss expert Lily Soutter tells the Daily Mail. Lack of sleep could lead to you eating 300-400 more calories the next day, due to lack of energy. And when you are feeling sluggish and tired, the chances of you reaching for a sugary treat loaded with carbs is more likely. Just one extra hour in bed is all you need to keep those evil carb cravings at bay. A good night’s rest can increase leptin, which is a hormone that suppresses your appetite, according to Lily.

Cinnamon

Lily says sprinkling cinnamon on your food or drinking cinnamon tea can help regulate your blood sugar levels. This helps decrease insulin level spikes after meals - which are responsible for making you feel hungrier, and in turn cause you to reach for unhealthy carbs.

Eat more protein

Protein such as lean meats, fish, and tofu help balance your blood sugar levels, which is important to help fight those sugar and carb cravings.

Choose healthy fats instead

Replace your carb cravings with healthy fats like oily fish, nuts, and our personal favourite – avocados!

Don’t let stress get to you

Stress has been linked to many health problems, and now you can add bad carb cravings to the list. Studies have shown that when you are stressed, cortisol is released in your body which leads to sugar and carb cravings! Take a walk in nature, do some yoga, and clear your mind of all that stress.

Here are some high-carb foods that you can replace unhealthy processed junk foods high in bad carbs with:
