Another year, another major award nomination for South Africa's golden boy, Trevor Noah

The 36-year-old's critically-acclaimed series, 'The Daily Show', has been nominated at this year's Emmys.

The late-night talk and news satire show was recognised in six categories, including 'Outstanding Variety Talk Series' and 'Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series'.

Trevor was also nominated for his writing on the show. He took to Twitter to share his excitement.

"Tired and scruffy but blessed and fulfilled. Truly incredible to see @thedailyshow team nominated for 6 Emmys this year! Is this even real life? Thank you @TelevisionAcad for the honour!"

Scores of people, including former public protector Thuli Madonsela, congratulated Trevor on social media.

"Congratulations  @Trevornoah on your  @TheDailyShow’s 6 #EmmyNominations. It is a dry season but grit like yours is inspirational for all, particularly young ones," Thuli commented.

One Twitter user praised Trevor for putting together an amazing online show after live audiences were banned amid COVID-19 fears.

"@Trevornoah & his team quickly turned @TheDailyShow into a funny and seamless online show is worth an Emmy imo. He carried that whole late-night show circuit on his back for weeks and weeks before the others could catch up. Some of them haven't even caught up yet."
