Thuso Mbedu's star continues to rise. The Pietermaritzburg-born star has caught the attention of Hollywood executives thanks to award-winning performances in series such as 'The Underground Railroad'.

Thuso has signed a deal with Paramount+ to create and produce socially conscious shows for the subscription streaming service outside of America.

According to Deadline, some of the content the 30-year-old will help develop includes topics about equity, health, and the climate.

The deal is part of Paramount's VIS Social Impact division. Georgia Arnold - head of the division - worked with Thuso on 'MTV Shuga: Down South'.

Having been privileged to work with Thuso on MTV Shuga: Down South, I’ve seen her powerful creative talent first-hand; I’m in no doubt that her skill and expertise will help our studio develop ground-breaking social impact-driven content with worldwide appeal," Deadline quoted her as saying.

Thuso added that she can't wait to create stories that will "uplift, empower and shape new ways of thinking and seeing the world".

She took to Instagram to celebrate her new gig.

"Thank you to Viacom and Georgia Arnold for giving us a chance to collaborate with our peers in crafting important and impactful stories. To my peers: Asisebenzeni askere?" she wrote.

The two-time iEmmy nominee will soon be appearing in the Viola Davis-led film, 'The Woman King'.

"The last few weeks (post wrapping The Woman King) have been crazy beautiful. As I settle in to turn back into my natural potato state it’s hard not to reflect back and be grateful," Thuso wrote on Instagram several days ago.

'The Woman King' is set to premiere in September.
