South Africa's politicians pulled out all the stops for their appearance at the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Cape Town on Thursday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his second address of 2019 and detailed a bold vision for the country.

While Ramaphosa was "dreaming of a new South Africa",  fashion critics were discussing the weird looks worn by some of SA biggest politicians.

MPs and other political figures showed off their best and worst looks on the red carpet.

From faux fur to bright colours that left many squinting and thinking "what were you thinking?", #SONA19 had it all.

Here's a look at some of the looks.
