Rachel Kolisi celebrates Siya's sister ahead of 18th birthday

Rachel Kolisi can't believe her baby girl, Liphelo Madlingozi, is about to turn 18.

Madlingozi is the younger sister of Springbok rugby captain Siya Kolisi, Rachel's ex-husband. The former adopted his younger siblings, Liphelo and Liyema, over ten years ago.

Rachel developed a close bond with the siblings and continues to care for them after their divorce.

The businesswoman and humanitarian took to Instagram recently to highlight some of her precious moments with Liphelo ahead of her birthday.

“I forgot to share these. My girl is 18 in less than a month. She was recently invited to her first matric dance. Crazy how fast time flies. @liphelo.madlingozi," she wrote.

Rachel included pictures from the dance and sweet moments from her childhood.

"What a lovely young lady she has grown into. Rachel, you are one wonderful Mum," one of her followers remarked.

In a separate post shared on TikTok, Rachel revealed that they are busy planning Liphelo's birthday party.

Liphelo admitted that she wasn't keen on doing anything for her birthday, but Rachel wanted her to do something special for her milestone birthday.

"I think birthdays are for celebrating your life and all of the amazing things that you are, and we want to celebrate you," Rachel said in the clip.

"And it's a big birthday, she's turning 18. So all I am saying is, let's do a dinner."

Rachel suggested they have a small dinner with some of Liphelo's friends at home or somewhere else.

“We don't have to do a big thing.”

Rachel asked her TikTok followers for recommendations. Liphelo joked that she doesn't want a party, but she doesn't mind receiving chocolate and apples as gifts.

“She can eat an entire packet of apples in a day,” Rachel said. Liphelo replied: “It's so good. That's the problem. I love fruit."

One of Rachel's followers recommended a toffee apple party, which we think is genius. But only time will tell what type of party they throw, if any.

Rachel celebrated her 35th birthday with a low-key picnic-style lunch with loved ones earlier this year.

"This is 35! I was surrounded by LOVE and JOY yesterday, and I’m so grateful! Thank you for every message, call and random hugs in the street. Crazy to think how desperately I wanted to sneak through this year’s birthday and try do it better next year! There’s so much to celebrate," she wrote.
