Disney is reportedly working on 'Princess Diaries 3' and a script for the new movie is already in development.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is still in its early stages. 'Supergirl' writer Aadrita Mukerji is working on the script with Debra Martin Chase returning as a producer.

The film will be a continuation of the first two movies, which starred Anne Hathaway in the lead role. She made her feature film debut in the 2001 classic. Anne played Mia Thermopolis, an awkward teenager who discovers she is the heir to the Genovia throne.

The cast for the third installment is yet to be confirmed, but because it is not a reboot, Anne is likely to reprise her role. The 40-year-old actress recently hinted that she would be more than happy to return.

"I would more than entertain it, I'm pulling for it. If there's any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen," she told Entertainment Tonight recently.

Most of the case returned for the sequel, 'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement', including Julie Andrews as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.

Unlike the first film, which was loosely based on Meg Cabot's 'Princess Diaries' novels, the sequel took on a storyline of its own.

'Princess Diaries 3' does not have a release date as yet.
