Sean 'Diddy' Combs is feeling the wrath of social media users after apologising for his actions in a viral video that shows him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

Diddy is seen in a surveillance video released by CNN dragging and kicking Cassie at a hotel in 2016.

Cassie mentioned the incident in her 2023 lawsuit against the rapper, but it is the first time footage of the assault has been released.

Cassie made shocking allegations in the lawsuit, which was settled less than 24 hours later, including claims of rape.

Diddy took to his Instagram page on Sunday to apologise.

"I’m truly sorry," he captioned the video. The 54-year-old admits his behaviour in the video was inexcusable.

"It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f****d up, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses.”

MORE FROM EAST COAST RADIO:

Social media users, including rapper 50 Cent, are less than impressed with Diddy's apology video.

"This is not going to work, who is advising him right now? SMH bad move," 50 Cent wrote. Many people feel that Diddy's apology is a little too late, especially because he previously denied any wrongdoing.

Just last week, he shared an image on Instagram that read: "Time tells the truth".

Diddy is currently facing other sexual lawsuits.

Many people are calling for Diddy to be locked up for physically assaulting Cassie.

"That Diddy’s apology video is trash. My guy stated everything he did to heal himself but couldn’t use his own mouth the acknowledge and state the exact abuse. He beat her, why can’t he use his own mouth? After all that counselling? That’s not how a true apology works," one X user wrote.

Another user commented: "The thing about this new diddy apology is he is apologizing to us. We aren’t the ones that you dragged and kicked. Taking responsibility would have been saying Cassie’s name and making it about her. You were “rock bottom” and had one of your best years career wise that year. Stop."

A third wrote: "If this is what Diddy was doing to Cassie outside of their private home and room, I can't imagine everything else she's endured. LOCK HIM TF UP RIGHT NOW."

Cassie's husband, Alex Fine, the father of her two children - Frankie and Sunny, also had something to say after the shocking hotel surveillance video was released.

He shared a lengthy message bashing men who hit women.

"I want my kids and every kid to live in a world that’s safe for women and girls, protects them and treats them as equals. To the women and children, you’re not alone, and you are heard," he wrote.
