The couple separated two years ago and Bonet is ready to make their split official.

It appears that the divorce will be an amicable one, with court papers stating that the couple want joint custody of their two children, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, TMZ reports.

Before their 2017 marriage, the pair signed a prenup, making the divorce proceedings a lot more straightforward than many Hollywood divorces.

Bonet was previously married to rockstar Lenny Kravitz, with whom she shares a child, actress Zoe Kravitz. This was Momoa's first marriage.

It is currently unknown at the time of publication when the divorce will be finalised.

At the time of their separation, Momoa wrote on Instagram: ""We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring/ And so, we share our family news. That we are parting ways in marriage.

"We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy. But so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become…"

Momoa currently has his latest blockbuster movie on circulation in cinemas worldwide - 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'. Watch the trailer below:
