Floods have wreaked havoc in KwaZulu-Natal over the past week, and many - including actress Linda Mtoba - want to know what government will do to prevent a repeat of the devastation.

Several roads and highways in the province were flooded or severely damaged as a result of the adverse weather conditions.

Scores of homes and businesses were also damaged. DA leader in KZN Francois Rodgers told ECR Newswatch that KZN infrastructure needs to be more storm-resistant

"There's not enough emphasis and there is not enough budget to ensure that we got the infrastructure to be able to handle this type of disaster," he said.

Former 'Isibaya' star, Linda Mtoba, says the issues faced in KZN during severe storms are not new.

"KZN is prone to flooding yet over the years the infrastructure has not [been] maintained to withstand the rains nor built to accommodate it," she wrote on Twitter.

She also shared a video of the N2 north and southbound near the Old Durban Airport covered in water.

"This highway flooding has been an ongoing issue, years later it's still not being attended [to]," the 30-year-old wrote.

"Today and the next couple of days will be spent on restoration... I wish I was home to help our neighbours. My heart goes out to each and every one of them."
