Kanye West blames God for making him interrupt Taylor Swift at the VMAs

"If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row," says Kanye.

Kanye West has an interesting reason for why he interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper recently chatted to Nick Cannon on his popular podcast, 'Cannon's Class'.

One of the claims he made during the 45-minute interview was that God wanted him to run on stage while Taylor was accepting the 'Best Female Video Award' for her hit song, 'You Belong With Me'.

Kanye famously took the mic from T-Swift and declared that Beyoncé 's 'Single Ladies' video should have won.

Beyoncé was shocked by the incident and invited Taylor onstage to complete her acceptance speech later in the show.

Kanye told Nick the incident was part of divine intervention.

"If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row. I would’ve been sitting in the back... It wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous of an idea because I had never heard of this person before that, and Single Ladies is, like, one of the greatest videos of all time," he said.

The rapper, who ran onstage with a bottle of Hennessy in hand during the 2009 incident, says he didn't even want to be at the awards show.

“And I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up.”

Kanye also talked about his 2020 presidential race, abortion, his thoughts on people calling him crazy, and his family, among other things.
