Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed some interesting details about what happened behind the scenes before her husband Will Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars

The 'Set If Off' actress shares in her new book, 'Worthy', that the comedian once asked her out on a date.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Jada reveals that Chris made his move when rumours were swirling that her marriage was headed for divorce.

"I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I'd love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren't you and Will getting a divorce?’" she told the publication.

Jada says she set the record straight with Chris.

"I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumours.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologised and that was that."

The actress had another run-in with Chris before THAT slap. In 2016, Jada supported the #OscarsSoWhite movement after Will was not nominated for his critically acclaimed role in 'Concussion'.

The Academy Awards came under fire that year as all 20 nominations in the acting categories were white. Chris hosted the ceremony and the comedian made a joke about her boycotting the Oscars.

"Jada said she's not coming. I was like, 'Isn't she on a TV show?' Jada's gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties. I wasn't invited!" he said during one of his monologues.

He later revealed that Jada had asked him not to host the Oscars that year in solidarity with the #OscarsSoWhite movement.

Fast-forward to 2022 when Chris made another joke about Jada - this time about her bald head.

"Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can't wait to see you,” he said. Jada, who has been open about her alopecia condition, rolled her eyes.

Will then got up out of his seat and klapped Chris on live television.

Jada tells People that she hasn't spoken to Chris since the incident. “[Do I have] any desire to talk to Chris? Here's my desire: I just hope that all the misunderstanding around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace."

Jada and Will have been a trending topic on social media all week. Jada also spoke candidly about her relationship with Will in a sit-down interview with TODAY's Hoda Kotb.

She spoke about why they have been separated since 2016, but have no plans to divorce.

While Jada addressed the separation in her 'Red Table Talk' Facebook series following news of her entanglement with August Alsina, many fans learned the news for the first time this week.
