The cast of long-running soapie 'Isidingo' have said their final goodbyes.

Shooting on the show wrapped up a few days ago, and the actors described the moment as "bittersweet".

The SABC shocked viewers last year when it announced that the soapie, which first aired in 1998, will be coming to an end in 2020.

The cash-strapped public broadcaster blamed poor audience ratings, a decline in revenue, and a poor return on investment as the reason behind their decision to decommission the soapie.

Actress Schelaine Julia Bennett shared a picture of her final scene with Katlego Danke, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Lerato Makhetha, and Elma Postma.

"What a Time to be Alive! What a Blessing! What a Team! What a Special part of South African TV History... Our Final scene together. To every single soul that makes this show come to Life- I salute You," she wrote.

Motlatsi, who has been on the show for 10 years, share another picture from his final days of shooting on Thursday.

"End of a decade for me," he wrote.

Jo-Anne Reyneke and her fellow cast mates Simphiwe Ngema and Rosemary Zimu ended their time on the show on a happy note.

They were seen dancing together on set. Rosemary said she enjoyed working on the show.

"Was only with #Isidingo for 2 of the 21 years & every second there was a blessing. God knew what he was doing when he opened that door for me & I will forever be grateful," she wrote on Twitter.

All cast members have completed shooting their final scenes. The production officially closed its doors on Friday.

The last episode is expected to air on March 12.
