Emmy-worthy! Gail Mabalane receives praise for 'Unseen' role

The actress plays the lead role in Netflix's new crime thriller, 'Unseen'.

Actress Gail Mabalane is receiving major praise for her portrayal of Zenzi Mwale in Netflix's local crime thriller, 'Unseen'.

The series, which debuted on March 29, is currently the third-most-watched show in South Africa. It was also sitting at number four on Netflix's Global Top 10.

Gail Mabalane's Emmy-worthy performance

Gail plays a cleaning lady whose husband goes missing soon after he is released from prison. Her character goes down a dark and dangerous path when she kills a crime boss. 

Her mission to find her husband is filled with many twists and turns. 

Singer Kelly Khumalo gave Gail - who also stars in Netflix's 'Blood & Water' - a round of applause for her performance. "Gail Mabalane did an amazing job as the lead character not to mention how gorgeous she is. Shot very well, great storyline and a kick*** cast," she tweeted. 

Another Twitter user also praised the actress.

"I watched #Unseen last night. Gail Mabalane! Wow! Undoubtedly one of the best performances ever! From start to finish! award-winning stuff. Absolutely brilliant! #UNSEENnetflix," the tweep wrote. 

A second person wrote: "Unseen was such a good watch. Gail Mabalane & the entire cast deserve their flowers." 

Many are so impressed by Gail they think she deserves an Emmy for her portrayal of Zenzi.

"I am probably hoping for a lot but if they submit this series for the Emmys. Gail Mabalane could potentially win an Emmy 🥹🔥🔥 #UNSEENnetflix."

'Unseen' Netflix cast

Social media users are also impressed with the entire 'Unseen' cast's performance. The Netflix series also stars Brendon Daniels as a gangster named Raymond and Vuyo Dabula as Max - Zenzi's missing husband. 

Hein De Vries,  Waldemar Schultz, Ilse Klink, Dineo Langa, Colin Moss, Shimmy Isaacs, Abduragman Adams, Rapulana Seiphemo, and Mothusi Magano also feature.
