DJ Zinhle has become the latest artist to complain about being expected to work for free.

In a Tweet post, the multi-award-winning artist complained that companies and organisations can’t expect her to perform for free.

“Am I the only artist who gets highly offended when a reputable company/organization asks for a free performance. Like, njani?” she wrote.

Zinhle added that she hasn't been receiving an income for the past three months. With the current lockdown, many musicians have expressed that they have been struggling to make ends meet as shows have been cancelled. This is because mass gatherings have been banned to try and curb the spread of the coronavirus.

“How am I gonna risk my life going out to record a stream for free when I haven't had an income for 3 months,” she wrote.

Zinhle is not the first artist to complain about free gigs.

Earlier this year, award-winning artist Brian Temba said he was tired of people calling him for free performances, but neglecting him when their gigs are paying.
