'The Daily Show' earns seven Emmy nominations

This is the first time 'The Daily Show' has received so many Emmys nominations!

Congratulations are in order for Trevor Noah and 'The Daily Show' team for their Emmy nominations. 

The show received seven nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on Tuesday, 12 July. 

It is nominated in the following categories: 

- Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming

- Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series

- Outstanding Writing for A Variety Series.

- Outstanding Variety Series

- Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series. 

The host of the show, Trevor Noah, has shared his excitement with his followers on Twitter. 

"When @thedailyshow gets nominated for 7 Emmys!!! Just wow!! Thank you for the incredible honour @TelevisionAcad! And a big congrats to @thedailyshow  team and to Chris McCarthy and the whole Viacom / Comedy Central fam! I told you we work well together!" he wrote on Twitter. 

This is the most Emmy nominations the show has received since Trevor Noah became host in 2015. 

The star, who hails from South Africa, also thanked his followers for watching the show. 

"A sincere thank you to everyone that tunes in and watches the show!" he wrote on Twitter.
