Chris Hemsworth has an important PSA for people who will spend the next few days and weeks planning their New Year's Resolutions.

The Marvel actor took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the "new year, new me" mentality that makes the rounds on social media during this time of the year.

"We as a society have to start working on our goals in progression and never in absolutes. Flipping a switch and yourself when the calendar changes is never going to be a sustainable way to achieve your goals. It's just a quick way to get discouraged," he said.

"The only way to move forward consistently is to make easy lifestyle changes until they become your new habit, your new routine," the 'Thor' actor added.

Chris rang in the New Year with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children - India Rose, Sasha, and Tristan.

He also spent time with his brother, Liam Hemsworth, in Fiji during a family vacation in December.
