Charlize Theron is speaking out against the "incredibly stupid" policies targeting the LGBTQI+ community.

The Academy Award winner showed her support for drag queens in particular during a recent appearance on the 'Drag Isn’t Dangerous' digital telethon.

The telethon, which raised more than $500,000 (R9-million), was organised in reaction to a series of anti-drag bills that were passed in America.

The state of Tennessee recently banned drag shows from taking place in public spaces - especially when minors are present.

According to Fox News, a federal judge temporarily blocked the law last month, saying it was "vague and overly broad".

Kentucky, Missouri, and Texas have also made moves to limit drag shows.

During the telethon, Charlize - whose adopted 10-year-old son identifies as female - made it clear where she stands on the matter.

"We love you, queens. We're in your corner and we've got you and I will f**k anybody up who's like  trying to f**k with anything with you guys. In all seriousness, there are so many things that are hurting and, really, killing our kids, and we all know what I'm talking about right now, and it ain't no drag queen," she said.

The 47-year-old actress added drag queens bring happiness to the world.

"If you've ever seen a drag queen lip-sync for her life, it only makes you happier, it only makes you love more, it makes you a better person," she continued.

The clip - which has since gone viral - has sparked the ire of conservative Americans, including controversial reporter Megyn Kelly.

Charlize played Megyn in the 2019 film, 'Bombshell'.

Megyn has seemingly challenged Charlize to a duel over her remarks.

“Okay, so why doesn’t Charlize Theron come and f**k me up? Because I’m 100% against her on this,” she said on “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Megyn added that she has no problem with drag queens but stressed they were only for adults.

“Yes, there are fun drag queen shows. I’ve been to them... but there are drag queen shows out there right now that are deeply disturbing and they’re happening in front of young children."
