Updated | By ECR Newswatch
As the elections 2016 buzz draws to an end, the 24 political parties that registered in the 2016 Local Elections will have five years to prove they've earned their rights as local government or to make their way back to the top of ballot papers.
Here's a wrap of today's proceedings where results for the KZN province were announced at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre earlier today.
Below, the IEC's Electoral Officer Mawethu Mosery speaks about bi-elections that will be held for the deceased ward councillors who won in their wards.
IEC's Operations Manager Ntombifuthi Masinga speaks about delays in the tallying of votes and release of results in eThekwini and briefly mentions why the metro lagged behind all other major municipalities in the country.
Meanwhile, the SABC has held a briefing after taking 1076 out of 1846 seats across all municipalities, districts and wards in the province.
