Local celebrities make their mark

Selfies may be banned at voting stations today, but that hasn’t stopped South Africans from sharing their “thumbfies”- pictures of their marked thumbs after voting – all over social media. And it’s not just ordinary South Africans who are excited about making – and sharing – their mark. Local celebs have also taken to Twitter to show #iVoted

Advocate Thuli Madonsela encouraged the youth of South Africa to vote. She said she voted to strengthen democracy.

Musician and producer JR encouraged his followers to take to the polls and be counted.

TV presenter Zoe Brown said it was 100% an individual choice who people voted for.

Fashion designer Thula Sindi put a fashionable thumb forward when he cast his ballots.

Popular musician Loyisa Gola and his wife Jen went to the polls early this morning. Bala tweeted: “Don’t boo. Vote.”
