ANC takes lead as final results for KZN announced

The Independent Electoral Commission has announced the final results of Wednesday's local government elections at the Durban ICC with the ANC taking lead in the province.
The African National Congress has taken the majority of the 1846 seats - winning 1076 seats across all municipalities, districts and wards in KZN.
The province registered the highest voter turnout estimated at 61.4% which is above the national average, according to IEC officials.
The live results have shown the ANC taking 57.47% of votes in KZN, the IFP in second with 18.39% of votes while the DA has garnered 15.17%.
What has also been revealed during proceedings is 61 000 ballots in the province were declared invalid.
Operations Manager Ntombifuthi Masinga says the IEC conducted 46 000 special votes between August 1 and August 2.
MEC for Finance Belinda Scott and MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Mr Ravi Pillay were in attendance.
