WATCH: Team SA's six medals at the Paralympics
Ranking 24th in the world, Team SA is comfortably sitting at six medals at the Paralympic Games at Rio de Janeiro less than a week into the tournament.
Alongside supporters back home, President Jacob Zuma and Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula are some of the officials that have offered their congratulations to the medalists.

Competing in the 100m T37 final, Charl du Toit and Fanie van der Merwe earned the country's third and fourth medals respectively. Setting a new world record, du Toit won gold in the men's track race.
Hilton Langenhoven took home gold in the long jump following a 7,07 metres jump - making this SA's second medal. Competing in category F12 (visual impairment), the 33-year-old is a three-time Paralympics gold medallist.

Finishing at 11.91 seconds, four-time gold medallist and sprinter Ilse Hayes earned silver in the women’s T13 100m final. As a child, the 29-year-old was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease - resulting in progressive vision loss.

Fourteen-year-old Ntando Mahlangu banked a silver medal in the men’s 200m final. The youngster - who competed alongside above-the-knee amputees - completed the race at 23.77 seconds; behind Britain's Richard Whitehead who scooped gold at a time of 23.39 seconds. The Independent Online reports that the youngster only learned how to walk four years ago after being wheelchair-bound.
