Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande has intervened to try and find a solution to the workers strike which has created confusion amongst students.

The department's Harold Maloka says a committee of six has been established to resolve the issues between Nehawu and management.

"The minister is in constant contact with role players at the university, and therefore we will continue to monitor the situation, and try to assist the team that has been established to try to find a solution," he said.

Student leader Sbusiso Mnguni says the institution must be put under administration.

"We want clarity as to when we are going to attend classes, and we want the proper committee from the management to [tell us] as to when we are going to attend the classes," he said.
