Sir Elton John's final concert in America was full of surprises. The 75-year-old's Farewell Tour made a stop at Dodger Stadium in California. 

English singer Dua Lipa made a surprise appearance at the show, which was recorded live for Disney+. The performance was Elton's last-ever concert in North America before he retires. 

Dua says she is thrilled that she got to perform alongside the music icon on such a special night.

"To my most magical friend @eltonjohn thank you for keeping the dream alive!!! It was an honour, a privilege and a joy to share the stage with you last night on your last show at the Dodgers Stadium. Thank you for everything, forever and always. I love you!!! Still taking this all in…." Dua Lipa wrote on Instagram.

The 27-year-old added that she "never could have imagined" that she would have been part of something so amazing when she started in the music industry.

Brandi Carlile and Kiki Dee also joined Elton on stage. The Grammy Award winner described his final show in America as "incredible". 

"Last night, I played my 2001st and final US tour show ever. I can’t thank each and every person who was a part of it, at Dodger Stadium and watching at home, enough for the most incredible night. I love you all and you will forever be in my heart," the wrote on Instagram.

Elton's close friends, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, also made an appearance during the show. 

The royal couple, who moved to California in March 2020, appeared in a video message that was played before the show started. 

Prince Harry thanked Elton for being one of Princess Diana's close friends. 

"Thank you for entertaining everybody for so many decades. Thank you for being the friend that you were for my mum, thank you for being our friend. Thank you for being a friend to our kids and thank you for entertaining people right around the world," Harry said in the video. 

Both Harry and Meghan congratulated Elton on his successful farewell tour and career. 

"Even though this is officially your retirement, this will not be your last gig, we know that. But we love you and congratulations on an incredible career."

Elton will be taking his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, France, Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom in 2023. 

The singer says he wants to spend more time with his family after the tour. 

Elton began his farewell tour in September 2018. Despite cutting back on touring, Elton has assured fans that he will continue to make music.
