There’s a fresh new face taking over the local pop space as 19-year-old Kayzia makes her exhilarating debut with ‘Sweeter’.

The single, which just dropped on digital music platforms around the globe, quickly shot to number one on the South African iTunes chart - solidifying the young artist’s ability to connect with audiences through her unique storytelling and the track’s edgy production.

‘Sweeter’ is an unmistakable pop anthem laced together with an 808 thread that quickly grabs the attention of listeners. After going through a very difficult time in her life, the 19-year-old has learned that being vulnerable, sensitive and to be able to lay your heart on the line is a superpower – something that is important to her to showcase through her music.

The single, written and produced by Daniel Baron, is an important reminder to continue counting your blessings and looking at the brighter side of life.

Fuelled with optimism, Kayzia says that while life is bound to throw curveballs at you, it’s the way you react that solidifies you who become as a person. “This particular song means so much to me because it describes a very difficult time in my life. I have always tried to see the good in everyone I meet and I believe that no matter how tough the world becomes you must never run out of sweetness,” Kayzia explains. “Sometimes I see just how much pain I, and the people around me are in and I just wish the world was sweeter.”

Kayzia admits that finally breaking out as a singer has been an exhilarating experience for her and that she hopes to continue inspiring people through music while adding a little bit of sunshine to a world that may seem incredibly dark right now.

“Recording this song was truly an incredible experience. Daniel made the experience so easy and a lot of fun and within the first few minutes of being in the studio, I found comfort and let my emotions flow,” Kayzia says. “Singing in a studio was very different from what I am used to but I absolutely loved it. It was so amazing to hear the recordings back. While I am usually quite focused and precise when it comes to singing, Daniel motivated me to just let go and feel the music. I am also so truly thankful to my vocal coach Valeska Muller who has guided me and helped bring out the absolute best that my voice has to offer."

She adds “I couldn’t be happier with how the song turned out and I am thrilled at the response the song has been getting. Topping the overall iTunes chart has been a dream of mine since as long as I can remember and achieving this with my debut single is something I never imagined to be possible.”
