The legacy of AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, continues...

The rapper's family and management released his latest album 'Mass Country' on Friday, 24 February.

The album came out two weeks after his death. AKA was gunned down on 10 February in Durban. He was buried on Saturday, 18 February at Heroes Acre in Westpark Cemetery, Johannesburg.

Following his death, the family announced that it will honour his legacy by releasing 'Mass Country', an album AKA had worked tirelessly on before his passing.

According to Apple music, it is the rapper's fifth studio album. It has 14 songs.

It features Blxckie, Emtee, Manana, Yanga Chief, Sjava, 031 Choppa, S.O.N, Laylizzy, Weathrd and Thato Saul.

One song on the album features AKA's girlfriend at the time of his death Nadia Nakai, an award-winning rapper.

"I can’t believe this is happening without you. I’m so proud of you baby. You did it. MASS COUNTRY OUT NOW!," Nadia wrote on Instagram.

Earlier this week Nadia spoke about the pain she has been feeling since losing AKA.

"My Heart is shattered, this is not what our future was meant to look like. I can’t believe I said my final goodbye to you yesterday.
I’ll never see you again for the rest of my lifetime? You loved me loud and proud, thank you baby. Protected me, Prayed for me, inspired me.
I find it hard to breath let alone find the words to explain how much I love you. I’m really going to miss all the special moments we’ve had. This really hurts!," she wrote on IG.

In a statement released last week, AKA's co-manager and co-executive producer Nhlanhla “Nivo” Ndimande spoke about how AKA put his heart and soul into the project.

“In the past two years, ‘Mass Country’ had become AKA’s entire world. The Supa Mega constantly kept the album release momentum and anticipation high,” read the statement.

“The team was extremely blessed to work so closely on this project with Kiernan. We spent a lot of time mapping out this roll-out and creating all the content we have under his direction,” said Nhlanhla 'Nivo' Ndimande.

“Kiernan worked tremendously hard on this project. He put his heart and soul into it, and we were blessed that he got the opportunity to map out this entire roll-out and approve all the elements, so what will be coming out will be as per his direction and his vision," he added.
