UPDATE: Eskom has implemented Stage Two #loadshedding

Eskom is warning South Africans that Stage Two load shedding could be implemented as of this morning.

The power utility says blackouts might materialise between 9am and 10pm today.

"There is a high probability of Stage Two rotational loadshedding from 09:00 until 22:00 today as a result of loss of additional units overnight. Stage Two calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period," Eskom said in a statement this morning.

"Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout."

Consumers are being urged to use electricity sparingly to ease the demand.
 
"Please switch off geysers during the day as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand," the utility requested.

Meanwhile, spokesperson, Dikatso Mothae says South Africans can expect interruptions to the power supply for the next four months.
