Can you imagine life without a smartphone? We bet you can’t.

According to Statista's website, the number of smartphone users in South Africa will be at an estimated 25-million by 2022. It is currently sitting at just over 18-million.

Smartphones make life so much easier. They enable us to stay connected with the world and capture memories using their cameras. A great smartphone like the Huawei Honor 9 Lite Black, which is available on the ECR Shop, comes with amazing features such as a 5.65' display and front and rear cameras which take pristine pictures. What more could you want?

So, what do most people use their smartphones for?

If you think making phonecalls is the number one use of a smartphone, think again.

According to a survey done by mobiles.co.uk in 2017, most people use their smartphones to send texts and emails. This is no surprise, seeing as how expensive making calls can be.

At number three was Facebook. With the increasing number of people using social media, it is no surprise that Facebook is in the top three. In South Africa alone, a study done by worldwideworx.com reported that a quarter of all South Africans used Facebook and the majority of them accessed it on their mobile devices.

WhatsApp didn’t make it into the top five, but it was still in the top 10 and so was watching videos on YouTube.

Below is a list of the top ten uses of smartphones according to the survey which was conducted on 2,000 smartphone users.

1. Text - 88 per cent
