Recipe: How to make a delicious classic cheese pizza

9th February is World Pizza Day. Celebrate the day by learning how to make this delicious pizza. 

Pizza Crust

2 Packets of yeast

1/4 cup of olive oil

4 Cups of flour

2 Tablespoons of Sugar

1 Tablespoon of salt. 


Pour 1 1/2 cup of warm water in a large bowl; sprinkle with yeast and let stand for five minutes or until foamy. 

Whisk sugar, oil and salt in yeast mixture. 

Add flour and stir until a sticky dough forms. 

Transfer dough to an oiled bowl and brush top with oil

Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm, draft-free place until dough has doubled in bulk, about 1 hour. 

Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and gently knead 1 or 2 times before using. 

Cut dough into two (It will make 2 pizzas).  

Press into a pizza pan. 

Add any topping of your choice ( Cheese, mince/ chicken, olives, sausage, bacon etc). 

Bake at 200 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes until the top is lightly brown. 

Freeze the remaining dough covered with plastic.

Pizza Sauce

410gram can of tomato puree

2 Teaspoons of onion 

1/2 tsp. dried origanum 

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

1 ( 115gram) can of tomato paste

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes

1/4 cup water

Pizza option two (The upside-Down Pizza) 

1Kg of mince meat

3/4 cup of water

1 Teaspoon garlic salt

2 Cups of Mozzarella Cheese

1 (410) can of tomato puree 

1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning

1/2 Teaspoon salt 

1 Medium onion chopped 

Brown beef and onion together. 

Drain off the fat. 

Add seasoning, tomato puree, and water. 

Simmer for ten minutes, stirring often. 

Spoon onto a greased 13*9 inch pan. 

Top with mozzarella cheese. 

Prepare batter. 


2 Eggs

1 Cup of milk

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil 

1 Cup of flour

1/2 Teaspoon salt

1/2 cup of parmesan cheese

Beat eggs, milk, and oil with beater or whisk. 

Add flour, salt, and parmesan cheese. 

Beat until smooth. 

Pour over meat mixture. 

Cover and bake at 200 Celsius for 30minutes or until puffed and brown.
