Woman asks baby shower guests without presents to leave

Was she wrong? A pregnant woman announced that all guests without baby shower gifts had to find the nearest exit.
The purpose of a baby shower is to, well, shower mothers-to-be and their unborn babies with gifts. But you will be surprised by how many people show up to gatherings without a present.
One couple in America decided to make an interesting announcement after they discovered that some guests - who were already seated and enjoying the baby shower food - pitched up without a gift.
Early and Tia gave speeches thanking their family and friends for attending. But Tia had to get something off her chest.
"Some people came and didn't even bring a gift. This kind of gives me wedding vibes. At my wedding, a lot of people came but they didn't bring a gift. So if you came to the baby shower and you didn't bring a gift, you can leave," she told the guests.

While many of the guests burst out laughing, a family member sensed some tension and said Tia was just joking and blamed pregnancy hormones for what she said.
But Tia made it clear she was not joking.
"I meant it. It ain't no hormones. I meant exactly what I said. If you didn't bring a gift you can get up and go. I said what I said," she repeated.

Scores of people agreed with Tia's actions, noting that some people just show up to events for free food and a good time.
Others pointed out that baby shower etiquette is a thing and it is about time people without gifts are shown the door.
"You not wrong the purpose is to the shower the baby with gifts, the food & drinks are a token of appreciation for doing so. If you don’t plan on showering the baby with a gift then don’t waste the parent's money," one woman commented.
Another woman added: "Yikes 🫣 that was harsh…. But, it is a baby SHOWER… gifts & love… but hopefully GIFTS to help the family’s costly addition. It has always been customary etiquette to BRING something when attending events like these. It ain’t cheap feeding a whole bunch of folks. Especially hungry ones. Lol."
A third person commented: "Nowadays baby showers are like huge events with $2k worth of decor alone, just for people to come eat & not bring anything! That’s why mine was on zoom lmao & I don’t regret one bit."
