Singles Awareness Day happens annually on the day after Valentine's Day.

It is a day aimed at highlighting the beauty of singleness. Although relationships can be a blessing, it's not always that one would find themselves with someone they love.

There are many blessings for being single and we take a look at some of them below.

'Love others as you love yourself' is a popular saying, and one of the important elements to truly loving others starts with loving yourself.

Being single allows you to channel all your love to yourself and helps you learn how to love yourself fully. That's one of the most important gifts you can give to yourself.

Having more time to yourself is another benefit that comes with singleness. When in a relationship, you have to think about allocating time to be with your lover, but when you are single, you can do what you want when you want to without having to worry about your partner.

Another benefit of being single is that it comes with peace of mind. As a single person, you don't have to deal with unfulfilled promises or expectations. Being in a relationship comes with added stress if you deal with a partner who doesn't always keep his or her promises. You also don't have to deal with disagreements and fights that often occur in relationships.

Being single can save you money. When in a relationship, you have to budget for going out, pampering your partner, etc. But when you are single, you can save that money or use it on yourself.

As a single person, you can also travel the world without worrying about having to arrange with your partner or worry about added costs. You also get to go where you want to go and do what you want without having to worry about agreeing with a partner.

Lastly, one of the biggest benefits of being single is that you learn to rely on yourself. Being single makes you realise that you are responsible for your happiness!
