Saline solution is a saviour when it comes to clearing blocked noses.

While it's very simple in its creation, it has the power to do the job and rid you of the irritation.

Saline solution is readily available at shops, but why not make your own to save some cash?

Here's what you will need:

A clean container
1 cup of distilled/boiled water
Half teaspoon of salt
Half a teaspoon of baking soda

Mix all the ingredients together well. After making the solution, use within three days. Make a fresh batch if you need after the third day has passed.

How to use it:

Once you have made the solution, put it into a syringe or squeeze bottle and spray gently into your nose, with your head tilted back. Allow the solution to run up your nose and out your mouth. Softly blow your nose into a tissue after use of the solution. This method can be carried out regularly throughout the day, or until your nose clears up. Ensure that you wash you syringe or spray bottle after each use.

Here's to smelling the roses!

NB: Always consult your doctor before taking on any medical treatment
