Herman's Hermits
Wikipedia

Herman's Hermits, originally called Herman and His Hermits, took Britain and the U.S. by storm during the 60s when they were one of the most successful 'British Invasion' groups.

They formed in Manchester in 1964.

None of the band members was named Herman, although lead singer Peter Noone was nicknamed Herman because his bandmates thought he looked like Sherman, from American cartoons, The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

The teen sensations sold over 80 million albums and 50 years ago, were outselling the Beatles in the United States.

They produced a string of hit records, including "I'm Into Something Good", "There's A Kind Of Hush (All Over The World)", "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat?", "I'm Henry VIII, I Am" (said at the time to be "the fastest-selling song in history"), "Listen People". They did successful cover versions of "Silhouettes", "Sea Cruise", and "The End Of The World".

"Hold On" was the title song of their first movie in 1966. "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" was a hit song first, that was later fitted to a movie storyline. (Source: Wikipedia)

Noone left the band in 1971. Herman's Hermits reunited in 1973 to headline a British Invasion tour of the United States.
