What do Dolly Parton and Janis Joplin have in common? They share a birthday. 

Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on 19 January 1946. She is one of the most successful artists to remain relevant for decades.  

Parton released her debut album, ‘Hello, I'm Dolly’, in 1967 and until today her music is still in demand. In 2020, she released the song ‘Faith’ with Galantis and Mr. Probz. 

Dolly is a woman with many talents. She is not only a singer, but a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian.

- 25 of her songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard country music charts.

- Parton holds the record for most top 10 albums on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. She has 44 Top 10 country albums. 

- Parton is a ten-time Grammy Award winner and has received 50 nominations. 

- She received five Academy of Country Music Awards, four People's Choice Awards, and three American Music Awards.

- Parton was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

Rockstar Janis Joplin was born on 19 January 1943 and passed away on 4 October 1970. She died from a heroin overdose at the age of 27. 

Her career was short lived. Her first single, ‘What Good Can Drinkin' Do’, was released in 1962.

Career Highlights : 

- Joplin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

- She ranked #46 on Rolling Stone’s 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and number #23 in their 2008 list.

- Joplin was one of the best-sellers in the United States. She has sold over 18-million albums. 

- Joplin was awarded the 2,510th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the music industry on 4 November 2013.

- Joplin released three albums while still alive and a fourth was released months after her passing. The album went on to reach number one on the Billboard charts.
