Take part in the exciting eThekwini City Verge initiative
Updated | By Sponsored by eThekwini Municipality
An exciting initiative is on the verge of taking place in eThekwini in an effort to make more positive changes in KZN!
The initiative aims to encourage citizens to go green and pride themselves in keeping their environment clean and help make KZN a cleaner province.
The Park, Recreation and culture department of eThekwini Municipality is inviting the public to take part in the popular verge competition.
Going green has so many great benefits such as reducing environmental toxins and air pollution.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the environment, health hazards and how you can play your part in ensuring a healthier environment for you and your family.
Change starts with one person and causes a ripple effect on the people around you - change is contagious.
The exciting part about the verge competition is that while it promotes educating citizens on the importance of making a change in the environment by beautifying and maintaining their verges using natural and hard toxins as well as soft landscaping there are also many fun prizes up for grabs.
Some of the prizes up for grabs include:
- Wheelbarrow
- Jojo tank
- Watering can
- Gardening tools
The competition will have multiple categories that the public can enter, and a panel of technical judges will briefly go through all applicants and select all finalists.
Here are some benefits of maintaining and beautifying your verge:
- It enables the process of lowering the urban temperature
- It beautifies and improves the aesthetical value of the environment
- It reduces a great deal of air pollution which can better the health of citizens
- It reduces the excessive usage of the earth’s finite resources
- It reduces the release of dangerous emissions
- It encourages consistency in maintaining your household which benefits the community.
Join in on this incredible initiative and enter the competition, too! The competition closes on the 30th of September 2022
If this sounds like the kind of change you want to make to the community, you can visit the eThekwini municipality website.
Let's make a positive change together!
