With Diwali done and dusted, we are feeling a bit sad that it all came to an end so fast. Pretty much how we feel about all special holidays.

Of course, the preparation can be time-consuming and tiring, but the time celebrating family and tradition is so rewarding.

It is for this very reason that we are so excited that the Durban Diwali Shopping Festival is still on until this coming Sunday, 19 November 2023.

The festival has an entrance fee of R20 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but gives everyone free entry during the week, so if you decide to go today, you will enter for free.

If you do pay, then don't feel like you lost out because you get a ticket to enter the car draw. Yes, you get a chance to win a car.

There are many stalls with Eastern attire specials, but as you might know, when you visit these sorts of shopping festivals, it is always best to do a walk-through, because some items are cheaper at other stalls.

It also pays to know that you have to be able to negotiate, these shop stall owners are all about making the sale, but it helps to negotiate if you feel you can.

Besides the shopping, there are some great food stalls located in the food court area.

The stalls cater for a variety of tastes and are not badly priced.

The best part of the shopping festival, if you ask my three-year-old, was the fun fair located at the back of the festival.

You can buy tickets for the different attractions and rides at the ticket booths. Tickets are R15 each.

The fun fair is only operational over the weekend, so if you are going for the kids, perhaps coordinate to visit from Friday to Sunday.

Otherwise, it was a nice outing and we got some good bargains.
