Conveniently taking place during the school holidays, at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 29 June to 8 July, the 2018 East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, supported by Durban Tourism, promises 10 days of enjoyment for the whole family with dedicated activities for all children of all ages to enjoy.

“As we are a family-focused show, we wanted to ensure that there were a range of fun, educational activities to keep children entertained, giving parents peace of mind as they explore everything that is on offer,” says Show Director Cairey Baxter-Bruce.

The Fry’s Free Ranger Superheroes are bound to get kids thinking differently about their greens as they present Superfood for Super Kids in the Discover Durban Cuisine Kitchen each day, focused on the benefits of plant-based eating.

Also with a focus on food, get the kids inspired to make their own lunches with help from the Defy Junior Chef Zone; providing plenty of creative cooking fun by teaching them to make nutritious meals with small Defy appliances in an interactive demonstration.

Parents can also look forward to a well-deserved break and peace-of-mind in the safety of their children at the Melissa & Doug Play Space. Not only will this area include dedicated child-minders, but it will also be abundant with the interactive, well-known toys, games and learning activities from Melissa & Doug.

The Magic Bean Foundation, an initiative aimed at spreading awareness of our waste through craft activities, will be running Magic Makers workshops on weekends within the Melissa & Doug Play Space that are designed to teach young minds about recycling, upcycling and saving the planet by turning everyday rubbish into functional items.

Parents looking for help in decluttering and redecorating their children’s rooms or living spaces can find workable solutions in The Edit, with well-respected designer and blogger Genevieve Motley, founder of inspirational kid’s décor and handmade toys online store, Olly Polly.

“Parents sometimes hit a mental block to achieving a beautiful home amongst the chaos of toys and routine. Genevieve understands the importance of comfort, style and practicality in the family home, while ensuring that the children are involved in the process of decorating the space they love,” says Baxter-Bruce.

Bring the children along to learn, have fun and meet new friends while you ponder renovating, decorating and gardening inspiration to ensure your home captures the theme, Home is Where the Heart is. Tickets to the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, taking place from 29 June to 8 July at the Durban Exhibition Centre, are available online from iTickets. Children under 12 are free.
