The 80s were a trend-setting decade.
They brought a great change in the entertainment and fashion industry.
The fashion of the 1980s has inspired many of the clothing styles we wear today.
Power dressing was a huge hit in the 80s as a result of many women penetrating corporate and political circles, which were historically dominated by men.
Puffed sleeves and oversized accessories such as belts and bows were also the order of the day during the period.

In South Africa, the 80s were marked by political unrest as many within the country continued to fight against apartheid.
Artists would also use their songs to raise a voice against injustice.
