Tribute: Buddy Holly’s top hits

We remember Buddy Holly today on East Coast Gold on what would have been his birthday.

Charles Hardin Holley, better known as Buddy Holly, was born on September 7 in 1936. He was just 22 when he died in a plane crash in Iowa on 3 February 1959, along with the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and their pilot.
The Rock 'n Roll singer-songwriter was a big hit in the 1950s. Holly made it into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1986.
He was instrumental in shaping the Rock 'n Roll industry during his active years. Holly was also a member of the group 'The Crickets'.
The star's life was so inspirational that a biographical film called, 'The Buddy Holly Story', was released in 1978.
To this day, Holly's music lives on. He will always be remembered for his distinct sound and incredible songwriting ability.
