The 'In The Now' hitmaker rose to worldwide fame as a member of the Bee Gees, a popular pop-rock band that needs no introduction.

His parents, Barbara and Hugh Gibb, have five children and he was the second born. He comes from a musical family where his brother was a drummer. He and his two brothers, Maurice and Robin, formed the successful group, Bee Gees, in the 1960s.

Barry wrote a lot of the songs for the group and other artists such as Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, and Olivia Newton-John.

One of the things that makes Barry stand out is how he was able to produce number one hits in five consecutive decades. Guinness World Records has also listed him as the second most successful songwriter in history, after Paul McCartney.

East Coast Gold will be playing some of his greatest hits on September 1 to celebrate his 76th birthday. Listen here
