Is this the best goal of the season so far?

Those are the thoughts of the football bosses at FIFA, as it has earned a reaction from the top football brass in the world.

The Soweto Derby over the weekend was the first time since the pandemic that fans could go to the stadium to see fierce rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs battle it out.

So when Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart delivered a glorious long-range goal, it was incredibly apt - something special for the fans.

Check out the goal:

According to The South African, the Atlantis-born star enjoyed the best moment of his career with that 74th-minute winner at Soccer City.

FIFA have already hinted that the goal could win a prestigious award.

"This strike from Kaizer Chiefs’ Yusuf Maart could be one for the #Puskas list," FIFA tweeted on their main Twitter page.

Meanwhile, the City Of Johannesburg did something to insult the Joburg club on social media.

According to IOL, in what can only be described as a weird and embarrassing moment, the City of Joburg took a very public dig at Kaizer Chiefs with a thoughtless tweet.

The original tweet was later deleted by City of Joburg. The following images are screenshots of the tweets before they were deleted.

The Sowetan club responded through a tweet on their own, saying: "Disappointing...we are part of the City of Joburg."

However, in typical South African style, instead of apologising, the City Of Joburg tried to double down on the situation.

They responded with: "Siyadlala nje, lighten up you bunch of winners. You make Joburg great!"
