The Met Gala is one of the most iconic fundraisers that brings together some of the biggest names in the most famed industries.

South African musician Tyla has become an international sensation. While making waves worldwide, Tyla has made sure to make a statement with her fashion.

The 'Water' singer is known for her ephemeral and aquatic looks, but for this walk down the carpet, she went in the opposite direction. The theme was 'The Garden of Time' and Tyla slayed it with 'The Sands of Time'.

Tyla was not water in this instance, she was an hourglass filled with sand. Take a look at the video circulating social media feeds:

The artist was dressed to impress in a Balmain gown crafted by the label’s creative mind, Olivier Rousteing.

The dress was meticulously shaped to fit her body, fashioned from three distinct hues of sand, and adorned with micro-crystal studs, ensuring that every subtle motion of the South African singer is imbued with a sparkling brilliance.

Rousteing shared some of the gown’s origin story with Vogue ahead of the red carpet.

As captured in the video above, Tyla had to be (air) lifted up the stairs due to the structure of the dress impeding her mobility.
