'Locked' gate on Durban beach reflects service delivery in SA - a joke!

The gate, which can easily be walked around, was installed by the eThekwini municipality as a “preventive measure”.
You'll find it on Durban's Virginia Beach pier.

It has left residents confused, amused, and downright shocked. We are in that same boat!
Speaking to TimesLIVE, municipal spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said that the gate was installed as a preventive measure due to reports of drownings and alleged complaints that fishermen were fishing while under the influence of alcohol.
According to TimeLIVE, signage at the pier is expected to be installed and will ask all residents to be cautious and that the beach is also a 'non-bathing' beach.
