On Monday the 23rd of January, South Africa lost one of its talented broadcasting legends.

Bongani Njoli, who was dubbed 'The voice of E', had touched so many lives in Mzansi.

As the recognisable voice of 'Friday Action Night' movie promos and weekend blockbusters, 'Bongs', as he was known, was a true legend and part of the e.tv family for 17 years.

East Coast Radio Breakfast host Darren Maule learnt about the sad news of his death and decided to pay his respects to the legendary broadcaster with a fitting tribute. 

Here's the tribute that Darren shared for the late Bongani Njoli:

Bongz' (54) cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

According to an e.tv media statement, everyone is devastated about the loss of their former colleague.

"His untimely passing comes as a shock, as he was in studio with us in December 2022 for a new movie campaign. However, unfortunately as he was too weak to record, we put the campaign on hold," says e.tv media statement. 

He will forever be remembered as the 'voice of e'.

e tv have reached out to the family and will be making a contribution for the funeral.
