“History’s biggest non-nuclear explosion” – Beirut blast witness describes
Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
After reports of the explosions that took place in Beirut, Lebanon on Tuesday, Darren, Keri, and Sky were finally successful in their quest to speak to a correspondent who saw everything unfold.
On Tuesday afternoon, social media was flooded with videos of a massive explosion that rocked Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Darren, Keri, and Sky on East Coast Radio were unable to reach a correspondent in Lebanon due to the displacement of thousands of people and the lack of infrastructure after the blast.
However, early on Thursday morning, journalist Hussein Yassine from PositionNews and Breaking News Writer at the 961 in Lebanon was finally able to reach the show to give his account of the events of the explosions.
Yassin explains the back story that has led to the current situation in the country; which includes poverty and crippling corruption that has rendered the Lebanese pound weak.
