This year the East Coast Radio House & Garden show celebrates its 40th anniversary!
The East Coast Radio House + Garden Show is back from 24 June - 3 July at the Durban Exhibition Centre and will be celebrating its 40th birthday bash in carnival style. This memorable event themed “Celebrating 40 years of creative spaces” will toast four successful decades of leading the way locally in inspiration, innovation, entertainment and craftmanship with plenty of giveaways, special offers, competitions and more to look forward to.

As the countdown and anticipation to the East Coast Radio House + Garden Show builds, so does the list of all the A-List presenters, influencers, activities and workshops. The 40th show will have incredible showcases and a new Garden + Lifestyle Theatre. Theatre talks will cater for all tastes and ages, there will be Slime workshops by Skyla showcasing her products and a children’s mosaic workshop by Peta Salmon. Other drawcards include Jane Linley-Thomas, Paul Bushell and Jess Basson, and the ever popular green-finger guru, Tanya Visser. On the opening day of the show the Garden + Lifestyle Theatre will host an ‘Afternoon with the girls’ event sponsored by Bon Courage from 1pm to 4pm.
Apart from the well-known personalities and outdoor experts sharing their pearls of wisdom, the Garden + Lifestyle Theatre will also include talks about Fungi and the importance of it in our ecosystems, best-selling author – Terry Angelos – giving insights about how she wrote her best-selling memoir White Trash, as well as learning how to get organised with Nadia Jonker of Organised & Co.
Other new and exciting attractions at this year’s show showcasing some of KZN’s top design talent are the Creative Spaces by Plascon Pavilion and the curated Discover Design installation. There are also a host of old show favourites that will be returning for visitors to enjoy – including the Home Grown Design Fair, the Foodie Fair, Hirsch’s excellent show deals, and the Discover Durban Cuisine Kitchen by Durban Tourism and Beko.

“For the past forty years we have always strived to provide a platform for the home, outdoor and décor industry to present the latest offerings and trends to the public and this year will be no different with approximately 400 exhibitors due to be participating and an expected average attendance of 80 000. It’s always exciting to be at the cutting-edge of what the latest in design and trends are in the home and garden space but it’s also been fun to reflect on the past four decades to remember what has come before – the good, the bad and ‘different’,” shares Clive Shedlock, owner of H&G Expo.
